Dragon Wytch (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #4) by Yasmine Galenorn

We’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy–and sexy–operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But being half-human, half-Fae short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Delilah shapeshifts into a tabby cat whenever she’s stressed. Menolly’s a vampire who’s still getting the hang of being undead. And me? I’m Camille, a wicked-good witch, trying to juggle faulty magic, gorgeous men, and the demonic war in which we’re embroiled. Sometimes, it’s hard to know just who we can trust…

“The Equinox is coming, and mayhem rules. A crown-prince unicorn offers us a legendary gift, but it vanishes. Goblins and trolls swarm the streets of Seattle. And now Smoky, the sexiest dragon alive, decides to stake his claim–on me. Overshadowing it all, the third spirit seal surfaces and Shadow Wing’s after it. But I’ve discovered a secret that could change everything. A new power is rising–a dangerous force from the past–one that intends to restore balance to the worlds…whether we like it or not…”

I still do not have a paranormal romance series to compare this to, but I am still enjoying this series so far. The pacing of this book is slower than the previous three in the series. But given there are more after this, I think it is okay to have the breather book. If a reader is reading this series back-to-back, they probably would be happy with the change. This story was not a slouch, but it was not a white knuckle or nail bitter either.

What I like about this series is, each book focuses on a different sister. Each sister has their own plot that helps the main story move along. After looking ahead, this seems to be the pattern through the rest of the series which I am happy about. The only thing I hope is the series story arc does not falter or lose focus. If I had to compare this series to a tv show, I would say, this story felt like a filler episode which can be good or bad.

Dragon Wytch is the second book for Camille. As the eldest sister, she feels she is the unofficial leader. The pressure is on for her sisters and her to find the remaining seals. She feels her anxiety and stress building with everything going on around her. While everything is going on, her love life is getting complicated. Trillian, Camille’s Svartan lover, is missing in the other world. Smoky has called in his debt and needs help with an issue on his property, and a new power is rising, intending to restore balance to the worlds. Camille is at a breaking point and the major war has not even started.

When a unicorn was going to be part of this story, I was not sure how I was going to like it. I was not disappointed. It did not turn out as cheesy as it could have been, and I was happy. His part in this story helped move the plot forward. He gave Camille a rare and important gift which only a select few can handle. Because of this gift, we, the readers, got to look into the past and see Camille’s initiation on becoming a moon child.

There is a lot of stuff going on in this book. I almost feel there was too much. Some of what was in the story felt unnecessary and filler. With everything going on, the book should have been longer. Again, this book felt like a filler episode.

Overall, this book was good and fun to read. Yes, it felt slower than the previous books, but that happens. I recommend this to anyone who likes fae, witches, magic, romance, and paranormal books.

I give this book a 3/5

Rating: 3 out of 5.
